My vow...do not go into music stores. Well I did go into one with my grandson...he was looking for a certain type of electric guitar for his heavy metal stuff...I know absolutely nothing about that or those guitars, so I found myself wandering into the acoustic room as he looked over the electric guitars. One whiff inside those doors (yes, the smell of acoustic guitar components, glues, etc., instantly gives my brain happy feelings...lol), and I found myself happy...too happy...too overwhelmed...I started playing guitars...found a little sized Taylor picking type thing for 630.00...ouch. I knew it was being stupid...I have several guitars right now...but...now I have a new one. Ouch. Why did I do it? I know the guitar people describe it as an illness they call GAS...Guitar Acquisition Syndrome. Yes, I had GAS today...now I've got bills to pay...it rhymes, I'd say, so the it must be ok...lol. And the thing is nice to play! oooh...no more music stores for me. Renewing my former vow!

A little-sized Taylor? That sounds great! I would have bought it too…

I’m no help!

Hope we get to hear it soon. :~)

Did your grandson find something to "shred" on? :-D

Recently I bought a rosin and I was SO proud of myself that I walked out with just a rosin. It was not easy!

Hehe Peggy, congratulations with your new asset :-D
When can we hear you play it?

Thanks for endorsing my bad habits, guys...lol.

Grandson did not find what he was looking for...next time, I'm not tagging along with him...lol.

I hope to find time to play something on it soon...it's so itty bitty, and after having Chihuahuas for several years now, I find I'm starting to prefer itsy bitsy stuff rather than big ol' guitars and stuff. It has a really impressive sound, easy to tuck into my lap and bumble around with...beautiful wood...I mean...I shouldn't have bought it, but I'm glad, in a sort of sneaky way, that I did!

Ha ha. I’m going to open up a mobile music shop and I’ll be putting your address as the first stop every time I go out on the road. You’ll get unlimited credit too. Is that a good business plan or what?…

NCnotes - Posted - 04/13/2025:  08:01:32

Hmm I wonder if it’s a 3/4 size or a “parlor” guitar…anyway it’s a Taylor, so I’m sure it sounds beautiful…

Pictures or it didn't happen.

Isn't that what the kids say, did I say that right? No, I think "pics" is their word.  Let's see this GAS acquisition laugh

groundhogpeggy - Posted - 04/13/2025:  09:27:51

It's small...don't know if it's parlor size...it's smaller than the ol' Alvarez...mahogany...I'll put a "pic" up if I ever get the chance to play it on my YouTube channel.

Martyjoe...oh, the torture you speak of...lol.

I wanted a little Martin in the worst way. Then a friend took one in trade, and brought it to a jam. I played it. I shook my head. I can't even bring my guitar to a jam. I get imposter syndrome. I don't deserve the guitars I have. You've seen me play on YT. Open G. It's okay Peggy! I know you'll get miles and songs out of that guitar. Play it in good health! God Bless

Dont feel bad, it happens. When I was playing in C&W band, doubling on electric guitar, I had a great Fender Strat, Japanese '72 re-issue with the Floyd Rose whammy bar system factory installed. Worked really well. Went in to music store for something and happened to pick up a Fender American Deluxe, transparent teal, maple neck. Plugged it in. One chord was all it took. Told my GF ( now wife), I NEED this. Bless her heart she didn't bat an eye ( she always says you'll make the money back).

NCnotes - Aren't you supposed to be saving up for your trip to Ireland, instead of buying guitars?
Seriously though, if you play classical guitar, have you ever really played with steel strings? They might not suit you. There are also short scale classical guitars in this price range that might feel more familiar. The 650 mm scale length of a "standard" classical intrument is about the same as a full size14 fret Martin, or a Fender electric. There are lots of shorter options that might be easier on your hands.

Hmm true Doug…

And yea, Ireland $$$ :-D

I will have to look into the short-scale classical guitars too … Or a “parlor” or 3/4 size maybe…I guess, I first gotta decide if I want to go back to classical (it’s so gorgeous, yet demanding) or stay in the Celtic folk genre with guitar (sing, backing guitar at sessions, learn DADGAD…).

This is the beloved piece I was playing when I blew my hand out… I noticed that here Andrew York capos it…this is a way to get "short scale” on your guitar instantly!
