I got an email from one of our most prolific FHO members that he can't get into FHO for some unknown reason. From the email, it sounded like he is really missing the conversations. He says he contacted Eric but hasn't heard anything back yet.

In case he can read posts here...does anybody have anything to say that could be helpful? I told him I'd start up a post and see if some kind of info could be gotten to help.

If you have any advice, please post it here...he can probably still read without logging in.  Thanks.

oops...no replies yet. It's Lee Mysliweic (I probably didn't spell that right). He said it's ok if I mention who it is, so there it is...maybe somebody who knows something about this sort of thing could contact him with some helpful info...I'm sure he'll go nuts if he can't get some talk going on FHO...lol. I'm pretty sure most of us would feel the same way.

Any ideas to help Lee?

This might have been better in the "Web site problems, help, etc" forum, where Eric would be more likely to see it, but if Lee has already contacted him it might not matter. Hope it gets resolved soon.

Tech issues aren’t my forte. That being said, here are a few ideas that come to mind:

1) Check the typing of the username and password for any typos or case-sensitive mistakes. This probably isn’t the issue, but it never hurts to check first.

2) Try closing the tab and browser and reopening in case there’s an error in the form submission code when logging in.

3) Check the browser. Sometimes things are incorrectly flagged as invalid or treated like the popups that the browser is trying to block. There can be snags in the permissions. You can clear browser history to reset this issue sometimes.

4) Try signing in on another device. If you can get in on a different one you can begin to narrow down the possibilities for what’s at fault.

5) If you’ve installed new antivirus software or updated the OS recently, check to see if it might be causing permissions for the site to be disabled.

I don’t know if any of these things are the culprit, but I hope this helps.

Hmm since you are in Lee, maybe try resetting your Password?

then you could see if you can get in via your computer, using the fresh new password…

Glad you got back, Lee. Doncha just hate it when that kinda stuff happens...lol...hopefully you can get the computer logged in . My Chromebook is acting really strange these past few days too...like...won't get online. Crazy devices will just do us all in. We need to all buy up a piece of land in Costa Rica and just make us a Fiddlers Paradise where we can be together and say bye bye to techie devices...lol. I'll let ya know when I win the lottery and make it happen.

I've been to Costa Rica. We played at the Teatro Nacional in San Jose - if this link works you can see it
google.com/search?q=national+t...gAQ%3D%3D
I still have a ding in the top of my guitar from an ornate doorknob in the narow hallway leading to the tiny dressing rooms.
We also attended a party hosted I think by some foreigners (Australian?) who maybe were winemakers. They lived in a bungalow in the country, and behind the house was a patio and then a bank full of tropcal flowers in full bloom. Nice place. Let us know how your migration project goes.

email not username?

Doug, that must've been a cool experience, except for the souvenir in your guitar. But at least it serves as a reminder of past musical adventures. That place looks way too fancy...lol. I was thinking, warm weather, oceanside, endless supplies of coffee and bananas...lol...a hideout from technology... and just sit under the coconut trees, well, maybe some other kind of trees, unless we can find good helmets, and play some music in person...lol. I guess we're stuck with high tech now, some of us, anyway.

Actually, I still have Chrome and find that I can use it for everything Except the Hangout...So I'm using Safari just to be logged in Here..  The reason I'm sticking with Chrome for other things is that I'm comfortable with the way Chrome does things.

Sounds like you might have to do a "clean up" of your cache in Chrome?
But it can be annoying because your browser wipes a lot of stuff...
you might have to reenter various passwords, etc.

Here's the brief AI instructions, if you ever choose to do it...

Open Chrome.
Click the three dots (More) in the top right corner.
Click "More tools" then "Clear browsing data".
Choose a time range (e.g., "All time").
Check "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files".
Click "Clear data".

I have cold feet when it comes to clearing data.. I'd hate to have to reset passwords on other sites that work so well..

The plot thickens.. Without having done anything, I can suddenly respond to Hangout posts on Chrome..!!

Funny. I have a Windows 10 machine that can't update to 11 (so much for their never-have-to-change-OS campaign) and it refuses to allow Chrome to even be used. I downloaded it, clicked to install and after that, the Chrome icon does nothing. Might be time for a new laptop

Put Linux Mint on the old laptop, i haven't used any thing else since Windows XP. And can still run Windows programs in Linux Mint.
