Fiddling Hank - Posted - 08/28/2023: 07:42:33
Does anyone have a music sheet for Michael Hurley's Slurf Song? I love that song but can't seem to find sheet music for that song the fiddle. I have found it for the banjo, guitar, mandolin, and stand-up bass.
I played the fiddle about 30 years ago but had to put it aside because life got very busy. I'm picking it up again, and dusting both the fiddle and myself off.
Thank you,
--Hank

Is mandolin and violin music similar? I looked at guitar, but I don't know if chords can be translated to notes.
Thanks!

Here's the fiddle part in a "Paint by Numbers" style. Like hundreds of other songs it uses just the major pentatonic scale (1 2 3 5 6) mixed up for a melody. Look up other songs like AMAZING GRACE etc. and you will eventually be able to recognize this mode and then hopefully be able to work out the melodies of all those other songs.
